The Stranger

“In the midst of winter, I found there was within me an invincible summer.

And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there is something stronger -something better, pushing right back”

Albert Camus, L’Étranger

You Know Them Upcycled Fiats

See, I love these. They so successfully combine my love for tiny old European cars and my need to sit on things, put stuff on surfaces and refrigerate food. And you know, if I had where to put them, they would be pretty hard to resist.

ImageExcept that then I would be furnishing my home with the chopped-up corpses of innocent Fiat 500s.

Fiat 500s would have to die in order to make up my sofa.

My furniture would be a cautionary tale whispered to wide-eyed baby Fiat 500s to scare them into behaving well.

I don’t have the heart.

Madrid 2020, If We May

Our third consecutive Olympic bid ends tonight. Tapas party with non-Spaniards who have promised to hold my hand for good luck, followed by a photo shoot for the exhibit.

I really want us to get this. We’ll be nice. We’ll be great. We promise to stop being so loud in trains and to never pretend to be disabled in the Paralympics again.

UPDATE September 8th: Bah.
